As I am sure you are all already aware, we are in the grip of what has now been titled a ‘pandemic’ when it comes to the Coronavirus and I won’t waste my time in repeating the general instructions given on how to stay virus free (if you haven’t been washing your hands until now, you need to have a strong word with yourself).
But, as much as I love the smell of a strongly bleached bathroom, it is not a smell I want to inhale in a downwards dog, so I have decided to make some DIY Yoga Mat Cleaner that is toxin free and share the recipe with you all!
It was super easy to make, all you need is:
- A spray bottle.
- Witch hazel.
- Spring water.
- Essential Oils.
I used lavender and tea tree, but you can play around with blends if you favour scents. I also decided to use witch hazel, which has anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties, but you can use white vinegar as an alternative. Making the cleaner is very straight forward, all you need to do is:
- Fill your bottle ¾ of the way full with the spring water.
- Top up the remaining ¼ with the witch hazel.
- Add your desired essential oils. I used about 10 drops of each as mine as a large bottle and I like things to smell strongly, but you can add a few at a time and have a sniff until you are satisfied.
How easy was that? I will be carrying this round with me for the near future so I can spritz mats after classes, but comment below if you have any ideas of other blends that would work well, maybe I will make a selection of sprays!
