BAM Bamboo Clothing Review

BAM3

I have been so excited to share my review of BAM Bamboo Clothing with you all! I was approached by the brand a couple of weeks ago and asked if I wanted to write a product review of a top and a pair of leggings and of course my answer was YES!

I was spoilt for choice browsing the website and I took forever to decide what I wanted, managing to narrow it down to the High Waist 7/8 Enduro Leggings and the Crossover Back Bamboo Yoga Top

BAM was founded in 2006 and have been making waves in the sustainable clothing industry ever since. Once the preferred snack of the panda, bamboo is everywhere as we try to make positive changes to the planet, sourcing eco-friendly alternatives for popular plastic products.

Bamboo has so many great qualities when it’s made into a fabric, being softer on the skin than cotton, it absorbs moisture away from the skin for comfort and it stays fresher for longer – perfect for teaching all those sweaty vinyasa classes. I won’t lie to you, there have been times after long days of teaching where I have been dying to shower after making the mistake of wearing cheap, unbreathable fabrics!

The products arrived swiftly which was great as I was looking forward to wearing them so much! Each item came in a compostable plastic bag (another great big tick for limiting plastic waste) and was packaged neatly.

The Crossover Back Bamboo Yoga Top felt super thin and breathable before I had even put it on and I loved the fact it was long. Being 5ft 11, I really struggle to find longer tops and end up having to layer, but moving about teaching yoga then sometimes causes these to ride up. When I taught a class, the Crossover Back Bamboo Yoga Top stayed in place the whole time and I didn’t have to keep picking at my clothes or tugging it back down. I felt really comfortable teaching in this, it kept me cool and I could concentrate on the class as opposed to wondering if my top was making its way up under my armpits!

I chose the High Waist 7/8 Enduro Leggings partly for their crazy, colourful print and partly for the high waist. Again, I find some yoga leggings just slide down, taking my pants with them and I again end up having to fidget around with my clothing (plus nobody wants their bum crack flashing in downwards dog), but these did not move at all. One reservation I did have was of the thickness of the leggings. I expected them to be thinner and shinier, like a standard gym legging I guess. These were thicker, with almost a cotton/wool texture and I was concerned about getting hot and uncomfortable wearing them. However, not only did they prove themselves through an entire day of teaching, but they also kept me dry, comfortable and sweat free throughout a mega sweaty Sh’bam class!

Price wise, BAM comes in a little higher than your average gym wear with the Crossover Back Bamboo Yoga Top priced at £34.00 and the High Waist 7/8 Enduro Leggings priced at £55.00 but you just know you are getting value for money with these. They also washed really well, i’ve had products made from alternative fabrics before and found that after a couple of washes they are just twisted and out of shape, but these just kept coming out as good as new.

I really loved BAM and I think if you try them, you will too!
